The length of time it will take to remove your unwanted hair depends on various factors, including the size of the area being treated, the density and coarseness of the hair, and individual factors such as hormones and genetics. During your initial consultation, I will conduct a thorough assessment and discuss your treatment plan, which may involve multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart. While some clients may start seeing results after just a few sessions, others may require more treatments to achieve their desired outcome. I recommend scheduling your electrolysis appointments based on the specific area of the body being treated and your individual hair growth cycle. As treatment progresses and hair growth decreases, the frequency of appointments may be spaced out to every 3-4 weeks. You can have an appointment as often as every 4 days as long as your skin is healing well between treatments, to reach your desired outcome as quickly as possible. I will assess your progress and provide personalised recommendations for the optimal timing of your appointments to achieve the best results. It's important to adhere to the recommended schedule to effectively target hair follicles at their most vulnerable stage and achieve long-lasting results.

If you notice the emergence of hairs between treatment sessions, we recommend shaving or trimming them back to the skin whenever you deem it necessary. This practice helps maintain a smoother appearance and ensures that the subsequent treatments can effectively target the regrowing hairs.

For optimal treatment effectiveness, it is essential that the hairs are at least 1-2 mm in length, typically achieved approximately 48 hours after the last shave. We strongly advise against waxing throughout the treatment duration, as it can disrupt the natural hair growth cycle and potentially compromise the desired results.

While there may be a slight element of discomfort, it is generally well-tolerated. I prioritise your comfort and will proceed at a pace that suits you, ensuring a positive and manageable experience throughout the electrolysis sessions.

After the treatment, you may experience some redness, and the skin might feel mildly tender, but it is typically not overly uncomfortable. The redness typically diminishes within a day. We recommend applying a soothing Aloe vera gel, available for purchase in the salon, to help alleviate any discomfort and promote a faster recovery of the treated area.

To ensure optimal post-treatment care, kindly adhere to the following guidelines: 1. **Sun Protection:** Refrain from sun exposure for 72 hours post-treatment to prevent aggravation and minimize the risk of small pigment patches. Always apply SPF daily for ongoing protection. 2. **Medication Adjustments:** If using Accutane, discontinue it for at least 6 months before treatment. Avoid Retin A, Tazorac, or any Retinoids for at least one week prior to the session. 3. **Aftercare Products:** Do not wash or apply any products other than the advised aftercare for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Ensure cleanliness by washing your hands and using clean cotton wool. 4. **Avoid Touching or Picking:** Refrain from touching or picking at the treated area. If scabs form or the area feels tight, soothe it with diluted Epsom Salts (1 tbsp in half a cup of cooled boiled water) on a clean washcloth for 5-10 minutes until irritation subsides. 5. **Alcohol-Free Products:** Do not apply alcohol-based products; witch hazel is a suitable alternative if needed. 6. **Saunas and Steam Rooms:** Avoid saunas and steam rooms, as well as excessive sweating in general, as sweat can harbor bacteria leading to potential infections. 7. **Expect Some Regrowth:** Anticipate some regrowth, but returning as soon as the first signs appear ensures that the regrown hair will be shorter and weaker. By following these post-treatment instructions, you contribute to the effectiveness of the electrolysis process while promoting a healthy and comfortable healing period.
